Storytelling, Technology, & Impact
Voice of Refugee Media (VORM) is a refugee-led creative media and digital innovation initiative using storytelling, technology, and multimedia to amplify refugee and host-community voices.
We believe communities should not only be represented in stories told about them—they should have the skills, platforms, and opportunities to tell their own stories.
VORM works with young people to develop creative and digital skills, create meaningful spaces for expression, and produce community-driven content that informs, connects, and inspires change.
Our work brings together refugees and host communities through storytelling, learning, creativity, and technology, creating opportunities for young people to discover their voices, build skills, and participate in issues that affect their lives.
Driven By Community & Impact
Voice of Refugee Media exists to bridge the gap between displaced communities and decision-makers. By combining storytelling with digital capabilities, we build local ownership so young people can shape their own stories and futures.
What We Do
To amplify refugee and host-community voices by providing young people with the skills, platforms and creative spaces to tell stories, develop solutions and contribute to positive social change.
Where We Are Headed
A world where refugee voices are impossible to ignore, dignified, and inform decisions that affect them.
Our Core Values
We operate through a modular, community-driven framework designed to ensure narrative dignity, information integrity, and sustainable capabilities across all our initiatives.
Community First
We listen to and work with communities, not simply for them.
Voice & Participation
We believe people affected by an issue should have a meaningful role in shaping the conversation.
Creativity
We use storytelling, media and technology to find new ways of communicating and solving problems.
Integrity
We value facts, responsible storytelling and information that communities can trust.
Inclusion
We create space for different identities, experiences and perspectives.
Learning
We believe growth comes through curiosity, practice, collaboration and sharing knowledge.
Action
We turn stories and ideas into opportunities for dialogue, participation and change.
How We Work
VORM organizes its work around three strategic hubs:
Storytelling
We capture and share authentic community stories to inspire empathy, dialogue and action.
Digital Innovation
We equip young people with digital, technology and AI skills to create solutions and expand opportunities.
Multimedia
We produce film, television, photography, audio and digital content that informs, influences and creates change.
Our Journey
What began as a community-driven response to the need for refugee voices to be heard has grown into a platform for creative expression, digital learning and community media.
Through our programmes, media productions, training spaces and partnerships, VORM continues to create opportunities for young people to move from being audiences of stories to creators of stories, ideas and solutions.
Beyond Being Audience.
For too long, stories about displaced communities have been told by outsiders. VORM shifts the balance by equipping local youth with multimedia equipment, digital literacy, and ethical journalism tools to own their narrative.
“When a young person picks up a camera or writes a story about their own neighborhood, it changes everything. They cease to be passive subjects of someone else’s report; they become the historians, journalists, and leaders of their own future.”
